Default Hey Arena.net.... how about an skill/elite creation contest?

I know you already look for and use player suggestions for new skills and elites, and that should continue. But how about formerly having a contest where you choose and reward the best new skill and elite submission (two winners total)? The prize could be the inclusion of the skills into a future GW as well as a special title like "Master Skill/Elite Creator" that can be optionally worn like all the other titles.

You can have two new winners every release. You had a Boss naming contest awhile back... these kind of things get people thinking about the game and excited about the future content. You may even get more good ideas to include overall (any great entries of course can be added). Besides, it'll be something positive for these people to do on the forums besides complain, lol. Heh, I do that too - I hate the final Shadow Refuge.

BTW, I'm making this suggestion because I'd win it easily. No one else needs to bother to submit.

This is a brilliant idea. It could be like the Guild Emblem contest they did a few weeks ago. Although, they could make it really democratic. Basicly, the A-net guys narrow it down to 4, that they think wouldn't upset the game horribly, and then the players vote using the website. You have 1 week to vote and you vote using your email adress which has to have a guild wars account attached to it. The only problem would be that the players always go for new warrior skills perse.

But, then A-net could just say that after the proffesion has had one new skill they can't have another one for 2 more competitions. My, this is a brilliant idea. Arredondo, you are a genius1

i think what would be better would be choosing 1 skill for each proffesion each compition, maybe varying weather its elite skills or normal skills.

this is a great idea, say a new skill/ellite for each proffesion every month or so will keep builds changing and the game more intresting... only problem with this will be, eventually bosses everywhere will have an elite.

It would also be cool if your name or your character's name would be included in the skill. I say "Your name" because some people character's names are well....odd.

like the monk skill Jamei's gaze, if i won i'd get Jamie's gaze, oh the confusion

It owuld be good 1 for each profession, and it would encourage people to think in balanced ways.

Well, once a month is too much, but having one winner per profession in each Chapter sounds good. In some ways there are plenty of us out there who understand our chosen classes about as much as the designers I'm guessing. I hope they at least read this and consider it.

Heh, wait a sec. I'm in Los Angeles having fun at E3... I'll go to the NC Soft booth tomorrow and personally speak to the president of Arena.net about my fantastic idea (or any subordinate they throw at me instead).

This'll be a great idea. After all, even magic the gathering is having design your own card, why not Anet.

I'm submitting my skills now, no need to wait...

The I Win Button Skill
This skill is for the Uber-est of the n00bs, just click and you win. You win whatever you were doing when you kicked off the skill. Cost 0 energy, 0 cast, 0 recycle.

The Finish Game Instantly Skill
This skill is for the Uber-est of the Impatient, just click and you complete everything 100%. Cost 0 energy, 0 cast, 0 recycle. No point, as you just finished everything.

The SPAM WTS, WTB Skill
This skill is for the people that insist on spamming the crap out of Local channel. Just click this skill and all conversation across all channels, in all cities of all districts will be flooded for 15 seconds with your trade message. This skill renders conversation pointless, even the replies to buy/sell your request. Cost 15 energy, .5 cast, 5 recycle.

The ZOMG U n00b Skill
Since everyone is a n00b, as dictated by everyone, towards everyone that has a difference of opinion this is a class-less, requirement-less skill. Everyone gets it. Just click on the skill and instantly your name changes to I’m a n00b. Use carefully, it might make buying/trading or creating groups complicated. Cost 5 energy, 0 cast, 1 recycle.

The Unless I’m selling it, it’s a scam skill.
Can’t do a run, or quest, or mission to get that Uber item to sell? No problem, just click this skill and anyone selling/buying/trading the item that you’re looking for/buying/selling is instantly banned for scamming. Be careful, as this may ban the entire gaming population except you. This is an Elite Skill. Cost 15 energy, 0 cast, 5 recycle.

Nope, I just fired off my I Win Button skill, which negates your quote above.

BTW

Not... to keen on that idea per say, but marks for creativity, which you ahve done far more than most *bows*... maybe it could work... but obviously for the most part anet would be baracaded with ideas... when they have there own idea of how they want the game to progress...

i dont know could be cool... because the idea of the contest could be to mesh with anets idea of the 3rd chapter...

who knows ay.

i'm torn

^ That is the point I suggested it. Cause I know someone will post about it. You don't always suggest some out of the world skill but a skill that appeals to a certain general public.

Unfortunately the president of the company wouldn't come down from his golden throne to greet me, so hopefully they read about it here.

Everyone who thinks its a good idea, please /sign on your support. Create an account for your brother and sister, then have them sign on their support as well. It'd be awesome if everyone could share their creativity on a game we all (well, almost all) enjoy, and then see the results in an actual future release.

This would create some interesting skills once it came round to the mesmers turn. Naturally ANET would have to tweak the winning skills to keep balance, and some skills would be rejected because they would be too difficult to program.

Yeah, even if a skill is selected, I'm sure everyone understands that it would be balanced after internal testing. The core idea is what counts.
